Polruan, Fowey
The house is situated at the heart of the village, central but private. The house is tucked away behind a converted chapel and is thus sheltered from the bustle of the world in its own delightful garden. It stands amidst roses and fruit trees, the peace is only broken by birdsong and the cry of the gulls. From all front windows there are magnificent views of Fowey harbour. Polruan itself must be one of the most charming, unspoilt villages left in Cornwall. The village lies on a steep hillside at the mouth of the river Fowey, with the busy harbour to one side and the English Channel to the other. The larger, ancient town of Fowey, with its comprehensive range of shops, banks, pubs, restaurants and other amenities, lies on the opposite bank, a small ferry shuttles every quarter of an hour between the two. The village is surrounded by miles of National Trust land, and there are many famous walks in the area (one of them voted one of the best 10 in the UK by the Sunday Times). Polruan attracts many visitors, especially during the summer months, to enjoy the walks, the fishing, the nearby clean, sandy beaches, the boating and other water activities, but most of all, the peace and quiet.
